Employment law is a complex and ever changing discipline, that requires a high level of knowledge and experience to fully understand.

Often, in practice, employees are at a disadvantage when it comes to understanding their employment rights. Employers have access to many resources, including HR specialists and legal advisers, to inform and guide them on employment law issues. Generally, employees do not and are at a significant disadvantage. Even more frustratingly, at the point that the employee needs advice, it is when their employment is at risk or has been terminated. This is the very time when money is tight and the cost of obtaining advice through traditional channels is simply too much, particularly in the current economic climate.

Often, in practice, employees end up incurring costs simply to discover that they have no claim whatsoever, or they pursue a worthless claim without guidance, which is a waste of everyone's time. Equally, many good cases are never pursued, simply because the individual does not have the confidence that their complaints are valid.

The aim of My Employment Rights is to even up these imbalances and help employees to get to know their rights and to find out if they have a potential claim, without incurring cost.

My Employment Rights works in the following way:

  • It gives you access to easy to follow guides to the different employment laws that might apply to you.
  • It gives advice on how processes such as disciplinary hearings, grievances and redundancies should be handled
  • COMING SOON In addition, if you feel you have a claim and would like an opinion on your chances, you can fill in the enquiry questionnaire and submit it for consideration. You will receive a FREE summary of the claims potentially available to you and comments on the likely merits of each.
  • It will also give guidance on the next steps to be taken, including, if you wish to do so, a referral to a local employment solicitor who can conduct the case on your behalf.
