Find out more about your employment rights.

Up until 40 years ago, there was very little in the way of employment rights available to employees. The principle of “master” and “servant” was the overriding rule and employers were free to hire and fire as they saw fit. With the increase of social welfare principles in the 50’s and 60’s, together with the decline in Britain’s industrial standing, the need to introduce protections for employees was recognised. With the creation and expansion of influence of the European Union, the level of these protections has steadily increased to provide the wide rage of protections available today.
